What is a jobs fair?
The jobs fair for Parc Adfer is an opportunity for people to meet some of the contractors employed on site and find out more about the jobs that will be required during the construction phase of the project.
Who is it for?
Anyone interested in employment during the construction of Parc Adfer can attend the jobs fair, it is open to all and free of charge.
When will it be held?
One has already been staged in May 2017, but another event will be planned for later on in the project. More details will be available nearer the date.
Why are you holding it?
The jobs fair allows contractors to recruit from the local area where the skills required are available. It also ensures that local people have the best possible opportunity to find out about the jobs that are needed.
How many jobs will there be?
The number of roles on site at any one time will vary significantly and will continue to change throughout the lifetime of the project. It is not possible to state in advance definitively how many jobs will be created during the construction phase, but we anticipate there will be approximately 250 people employed on site at the peak of construction.
Will I need training to undertake any of the jobs?
This will depend on what type of jobs you are interested in, your skills and experience and others that apply. Contractors will take on the best candidates for the job and that may mean that you will need some training. You will not be asked to undertake any work on site that you are not trained to do.
What about other jobs in the future?
Not all jobs will be live now; we are working with Jobs centre Plus and hope to advertise new jobs as they come online. You can access the Job Centre Plus website here.

Please submit your CV and a brief overview of the areas of work that you are interested in to email@example.com – don’t forget to include your full contact details. We will then pass your CV to the relevant contractor.
Will Parc Adfer be recruiting for permanent operational jobs?
The current process is focused only on construction jobs. At this stage Wheelabrator is not collecting personal details for people interested in operational roles but we will want to hear from possible applicants nearer the time. Operational recruitment will commence in 2018 and positions will be advertised locally, including through Job Centre Plus. In due course there will be around 35 operational vacancies typical for a facility of this type, ranging from plant manager, various specialist technical disciplines, administrative staff, operators etc. We are aware that there is good local talent in the region and hope that the positions can be filled from the local area.
Will there be any opportunities for suppliers?
The jobs fair is an opportunity for people to find out about employment opportunities during the construction phase of the project. A Meet the Buyer event was held last year, more information on supply chain opportunities can be found here.
Who is running the jobs fair?
The jobs fair is being run by CNIM who was appointed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor by Wheelabrator in 2016. CNIM in turn has appointed Clugston to lead the civil engineering works.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need to bring a copy of your CV to leave with the contractors if you are interested in a particular job.
